Born: 1784 in Dresden Germany. Occupation: Lawyer/Chimney sweep. Religion: Lutheran.
Died: 21.8.1847 aged 61 in Flensborg, Denmark.
Married: Anna Caroline Collenburg in 1/10/1814 Glucksburg, Denmark. Anna died the same year as Johann 1847. Anna was born 7/2/1789 in Glucksburg, Denmark.
Her father was Jens Jocobsen Collenburg, Glucksburg, Denmark. Mother: Anna Elizabeth Petersen. Anna's Uncle Peter Jocobsen Collenburg was an officer in the Friedrichsgardein "Friedrich’s Guard" at Glucksburg Castle Denmark. The Collenburg's were Jewish.

Spouse Maria Christina Johanna Scheel. They had a daughter Friederike Mathildde Johanne Ulbrich, born 21st November 1860, Bov, Aabenraa-Sonderborg, Denmark.

3. Elise Ulbrich, born c1819 in Glucksburg Denmark. In 1845 census she is 26.
4. Maria Caroline Ulbrich(Albrich), Born c.1820 in Glucksburg Denmark. Marriage 27th September 1843, Oskar Lauritzen at Vinding, Skanderborg in Denmark. Lived on pastrol property in Viborg. They had a child named Johanne Caroline Lauritzen c.1845. Second marriage to Christian Peter Hoeck, lived in Aabenraa, Lundtoft. Christian was the brother of Balzer Hoeck the husband of her Maria's sister Doris. They had a child Anna Karoline Hoeck.

6. Doris Catharina Heniette Ulbrich, Born c.1824 in Glucksburg Denmark. Occupation: Governess. Married 5th of March 1861 in Udbjaerg, Tonder, Denmark to Balzer Schmidt Hoeck. His parents were Christian Hansen Hoeck and Anna Schmidt Tychsen.
7. Catherine Elizabeth Henriette Ulbrich (Ulbreck), Born October 8, 1827 in Flensborg/Glucksburg Denmark. Also known as Catinka and Catharina. She died on August 1st 1900 in Copenhagen. Married on the 24th April 1852 to Dr Christian Waldemar Ryge at Vinding, Skanderborg, Denmark. Immanuel Ryge was born Immanuel Christiern Waldemar Qvintus Ryge onFebruary 26, 1813 in Flensborg and was Dr/Surgeon to the Royal Family. His father Dr Johann Christian Ryge 1780-1842, was Actor and Dr/Surgeon to the Royal Family. Immanuel died May 16, 1891 in Copenhagen. His sister was Countess Clothildis Nathalia Septima Ryge 1816-1895.

Born: 16th December 1829. Baptised 20th February 1830 in Flensburg, Schleswig, Denmark. Godparents: 1. Nicolai Severin Hjarvemaat, Catharina Dorothea Schmidt and Fritz Mecklenburg
Occupation: Teacher.
Wife: Margaret Ferguson Drummond Ulbrich: Born/baptised on the 14th June 1835 in Crieff, Perthshire Scotland.
Margaret married Nicolai Ulbrich in 1855 in Ballarat, Victoria, Australia.

Residences: Family Home in North Williamstown on Station Road and holiday lodge and pastrol property at Warburton (as a child Nellie Mitchell stayed here on holidays). Logs from this property were taken through to Lilydale then on to Williamstown for the construction of the Williamstown property.

Had son's George Nicolai Ulbrich (Wesley College), served in WW1 Private 14 Light Horse Regiment, served in France. Keen High Jumper. John McArthur Drummond Ulbrick born 1889, played against South Africans for the Hamilton Cricket side. Also played for Ararat Cricket Club.

Chief organizer of the RACV and 1921 observer in the Mile Alpine Trial. Captain in the Victorian Military Forces. Captain "Victoria Club" Dunedin, New Zealand, Played "forward" for Melbourne Football Club 1883. Australian Athletic Championships 1904.

2. Margaret Maria Drummond Ulbrich, Born in Amherst, near Maryborough in 1859. (Carolina’s twin). Died 1945 in Bridgewater, Somerset, United Kingdom. Margaret played the organ along side Signor Giorza at the, organ’s opening, High Church (St Giles Presbyterian Church) in Geelong on the 19th of February 1874. Attended North Williamstown State School. Played organ in London and Germany. Margaret married Fred Clutsam. His occupation is Professor of Music and piano manafacturer, Tenor at St. Paul's Cathedral and University Conservatorium in Melbourne and founded the Orpheus Choral Society. Dame Nelli Melba stayed with Margaret and Fred in Germany on one of her holidays. Fred's brother George Howard Clutsam was composer and music critic for The Observer in London and Dame Nellie Melba's pianist. Fred Clutsam's parents were Louisa Sanders and George (Huyler) Clutsam and grandfather was Dr Samuel Joseph Clutsam M. D.
3. Carolina Elizabeth Ulbrich, Born 1859 Amherst (Margaret’s twin). Also known as Sophia Elizabeth she died two months after her birth in Amherst.
4.Frederick William Leslie Ulbrich (Captain). Born 7th May 1861 Indented Head, Drysdale. Servise: Boer War. See Below.
5. Caroline Anna Sophia Ulbrich(k), Born 23rd December 1862 Drysdale, Bell. Attendend Presbyterian Ladies College, Married John Wallace Ross from Warburton in Victoria. Their children were son's Vernon, Ralf and Colin. Lieutenant Vernon John Wallace Ross was killed in France on the 23rd of April 1918. Ralph Wallace Ross - Corporal 21st Battalion WW1, served Western Front. Lieutenant Colonel Colin Wallace Ross WWII later Doctor. Other mentions: Coldstream wedding.
6. Charles Edward Ulbrich, Born 14th of January 1866 Geelong. Died 31st of May 1900, aged 34, after prolonged illness.
7. Peter Nicolai Ulbrick, Born 1868 Geelong. Died 1941 aged 71 at Coburg. Occupation: Accountant/Lawyer for Bank of Australasia.
8.George Ericksen Ulbrick (Lieutenant) , Born 4th July 1870 Geelong. Named after "George Erickson", Margaret's sister(Betty Ferguson ) husband. Lieutenant on probation in militia garrison artillery, attached to the Williamstown Battery for instruction at time of death on 5th October 1891 aged 21. Died suddenly due to complications of influenza.
9.Waldamar Harold Ulbrich, Dr , Born 22nd August 1873 Geelong. Died in London 5th of July 1904, as a result of appendicitis aged 31, at the home of George Howard Clutsam in Marylebone (Marybone) London. Attended North Williamstown State School, St James Grammar and Marybrough High School owned by his older brother John. M.B.ET CH.B from Melbourne University. He was also a Doctor at Ballarat Hospital.

Frederick William Leslie Ulbrich(K), Captain.
Born: 7th May Drysdale, Indented Head, Bellarine region in 1861, Victoria. Died: 16 of December 1917 at 19 Burnett Street, Hobart Tasmania.
Wife: Maria May Ulbrich (Bassett). Born in 1868 in Grant, Victoria Maria’s parents were Charles William Bassett and Margaret McInerney. Married in 1864.

Frederick's Career Highlights: 1880 Teacher. Joined Artillary in Victoria in 1880, In 1881 he qualified to Teach Military Drill, Garrison Artillery Williamstown Battery from 1884, First officer to command the first public school battalion of cadets in Victoria while in the position of resident master at Wesley College. Spent time in Yarra Valley and Northern Victoria teaching and recruiting pre Boer War. Promoted to Captain during Boer War.
First Tour Boer War: Attached 4th Victorian Imperial Bushmen, Attached to Lord Methuen's Staff, Attached 5th Victorian Mounted Rifles, Wounded in action/sickness and returned to Australia.
Second Tour: Commanded troop ship Harlech Castle 1901, given command of the Peninsula Horse.
Medals-QSA (Queens (Victoria) South Africa Campaign Medal) and five clasps: CC- Cape Colony (1899-1902), OFS- Orange Free State 28.2.1900-1902, TVL-Transvaal (24.5.1900-1902), RHOD-Rodesia, 01- South Africa (1901). He also received two distinguished certificates.
Real-estate/Auctioneer company with brother inlaw "John Wallace Ross", Tasmanian agricultural inspector and agricultural expert.

1. Frederica May ULBRICK, Born 1890 in Parahan, Victoria. Married Martin John McShane on the 14th of April 1920, at the New Town Sacred.
2. Claude Erickson Warburton Ulbrick, Born 1892 in Williamstown. Died aged 65, Sand, 1960. Named after Warburton property.
3. Frederick Albert Christian Ulbrick (Warrant Officer), OAM, Also known as Frederick Joseph. Born 8th Aug 1894 at Rutherglen, Victoria. Died Heidelberg in 1964 aged 69 years. Played for Footscray Football Club. No 7 - 3 games 1925, No 18 - 4 games 1927. More information to come.
4. Hilda Margaret Gladys Ulbrick, Born 1897 Rutherglen. She was a Nun at the S.S.H.J in Hobart Tasmania.
5. George Harold Ulbrich (Lance Corporal), Born 1899 Boorhaman North, Victoria. Occupation: Pre war - Apprentice Baker. Post War - Postmaster General's Department in Tasmania for 40 years. Was a singer and theatre actor in Tasmania. Grandfather of the author of this blog.
WW1 -11th Field Artillery Battalion in France. At 14 he joined the A.I.F in the 13th Coy, spending four years as a cadet. At 17 he joined the A.G.A (Australian Garrison Artillery), which is a part-time volunteer force for one and a half years. He was then shipped to the front in 1918.
WWII- Service to be posted shortly. Service includes Tasmania and King Island.
6. John Baden Powell Ulbrich, born May 31st 1900 Hawthorn, Victoria. His godfather Robert Stephenson Smyth Baden-Powell.
7. Hazel Marion Ulbrich, Born 1904 in Hobart, Tasmania.
8. Waldemar Carl Ulbrich, Born in New Town Tasmania on the 8th of October 1905. Died Aged 57, buried 20th May 1963. Last residence Lindisfarne, Tasmania. WW1- Home service. Occupation: Cox Brothers (Retail Store) in Burnie and Myers, Theatrical performer and pianist for a hypnotist in Tasmania including Burnie.
9.Leslie Adolph Peter Ulbrick (Lieutenant), Also known as Frederick William. Adolph from name was dropped. Born on the 27th January 1908, New Town, Tasmania. Leslie joined the Junior Cadets while attending ST Virgil’s College Hobart aged 14. Occupation – Printer Teller Press Machinist.
Served in the 40th Battery Cadet 1924 A.G.A. 1926.
Appointed L Bar 11th October 1926 until 23/5/1927. Promoted Sargent 1st of January 1929.
Enlisted for 3 years of Military Service in the 17th Heavy Gr A.G.A. Joined 5th December 1929 where he obtained 1st class Musketry Classification.
Appointed Warrant Officer 1st July 1931. Appointed Lieutenant 12th February 1935.
Leslie died aged 28 in 1937 at Windsor and is buried (Military Funeral) at Footscray Cemetery in Victoria.
